The weather forecast was not great and the 350km drive across the flat Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps started in rain.
It stopped raining after around 250km.
The clouds had lifted as I came over Bourke’s Pass between Geraldine and Fairlie.
A “Daffodil” shot was appropriate for the first day of Spring:
But by the time I reached Lake Tekapo the clouds had set in.
The excuse for the photos this time is the lack of light for the whole day (except for an 8 minute burst of sunshine), the rain, and the icy, horizontal wind.
Mentioning the icy wind alerts me to how much Lake Tekapo resembles the Isle of Skye – bare mountains with snow on the tops, the wind and a manmade icon to complement Nature’s magic.
Skye has Eileen Donan Castle – Lake Tekapo has the Church of the Good Shepherd.
In the 8 minute break of sunshine:
Hopefully the whole of Lake Tekapo will be revealed tomorrow.
And I wasn’t going to do any funny photos but couldn’t pass this one:
just a test post (grdu)
