Day 7 Queenstown

Queenstown is the sort of place that doesn’t leave much time for blogging. Hence, the next couple of posts will be brief until I get somewhere boring and quiet.

Like the Gold Coast, Queenstown is a tourist mecca based originally on its natural beauty. Unlike the Gold Coast, its development has been controlled to preserve the natural wonders that surround it.
But it’s still busy, crowded and expensive.

There are all sorts of the activities the Kiwis are famous for – bungy, jetboats etc.
The one that appealed to me was a unique form of flying in this unique place – paragliding on the end of a cable being towed by a speedboat around Lake Wakitipu:

It was sensational! It was so peaceful and surprisingly quiet sitting above the lake with a magical 360 degree view.

As an optional extra you can buy photos taken of you by a camera that sits about a metre in front of you.
When we got back to shore on Sunday I was on such a high that I didn’t care too much when the guys announced the camera hadn’t worked. But I pretended I did.
The outcome: another flight on Monday, a free T Shirt and a free disk of photos of a tubby fool floating high above paradise!
