The road in to Milford Sound is still closed, but only the last 25km or so.
It seems that it was closed for a fortnight in August and the only way they could clear it was to drop 25kg of explosive from a helicopter!
Apparently they tried the same trick this week after a minor avalanche and caused a hillside of trees to come down onto the road at a critical point.
So today was spent gently driving as far as possible along the Milford Road, stopping at the various vantage points and playing with the camera settings.
I’m not sure where,
but it was colourful for a change.
Marian Falls
( Well I thought it looked like a horse’s head)
Off to Queenstown tomorrow for a holiday.
